Hi,
In Maxsurf I am trying to calculate wind moment in a large angle stability calculation. I have defined windage surfaces and in the profile view I can see the underwater and windage portions assigned correctly. However when I go through the criteria library the actual windage area and height of its centroid do not seem to be generating and when I do the large angle stability assessment no wind moment is created. Where am I going wrong?
Thanks,
Andy.

I have even tried the same with one of the reference designs to show the problem. After defining windage surfaces the windage and underwater portions are correctly shown but in the criteria the windage area and height etc are not calculated. What am I missing?
Hi Its a bit difficult to see where you are going wrong. Try this:
1. Create your own custom group of criteria
2. From the parent "Heeling arm criteria (xRef)" copy a criterion such as "Angle of equilibrium" to your custom group
3. Copy a wind heeling arm to your group
4. Reference the heeling arm in the "Angle of equilibrium" criterion
5. Set all the parameters as required (if you just want the areas modelled then use "Additional area" and set it to zero.
6. Set the criterion for analysis
7. Run the analysis and have a look at the results for the computed data

I cannot upload a file here - but this is what the criteria look like
The computed areas and centroids are in the criteria results (not the dialog)
Hi Pat,
Thanks for this. James also got back to me via support and I think I was after wind heeling arm with velocity profile as I wanted the areas of each heeled profile.
