MOSES - Mooring Lines Catenary PLOT

Dear colleagues,

How MOSES deal with mooring lines catenary plot with many pretension combined as attachment?
I've tried to run with the following files but there's something wrong with line 2 at pretension 5 Tons. My water depth is 52 but the results show -110

Thanks for the answer

  • Hi Trinh Duc Tuyen,

I was not able to download the files from google drive.  The system here at Bentley Communities allows files to be attached.  Please use the system at Bentley Communities.

I believe your question is about the plot that shows one line in cyan.  You described it as reporting the line at a depth of 110m when the water depth is 52m.

The data entered for mooring line description does not include data to model grounding midline.  Or in this instance it looks like grounding in the 2nd segment.  We would need to know friction on the 2nd segment for example.

We do have plans to make this enhancement in the future.

Can you tell me what operation you are modeling?  If I can get more information about your analysis I will be able to present it to the product manager and request the enhancement be given priority.

    Thank you,

    Dear Ms.Georgina,

It's nice to here from you. Could you take a look at the attachment (ask1.rar) and give me some advice. i have 2 quetstions:
    1. I'm trying to plot the combination catenary shape of all lines with difference pre-tention like the last picture.
    2. Why the ML2 show result with -110m depth

    I'm running MOSES 64bit on win7 & 8.1 64

  • Hi Trinh Duc Tuyen,

    1. Have you tried the "CAT_PLOT" command to plot the catenary shapes?  You will need MOSES 11 or later for this command.

    2.  The reason the results show -110m depth is that data for the second segment does not include the description for grounding.  We have plans to make this enhancement in the future.

Let me know if there are other questions.

    Cheers,

    Georgina Maldonado
