I have been using Marshall SCF method for double skin grouted leg joints as per our client requirement. However, based on sensitivity study of comparison with Efthymiou, using MSH the reduction of SCF seems to occur in axial saddle location but not in out-of-plane for brace side. For chord side, the SCF's are generally increased at all locations. I would like to understand the SCF equation used for this MSH method and the theory behind it. It is appreciated if anyone share the knowledge on this.
The Marshal SCF equations are derived from the following document:
MARSHALL P W
A review of stress concentration factors in tubular joints CE-32 report, Shell Oil Co, Houston, Texas
I was able to find a copy of the equations published in this book online:
See page C-11.
Thank you very much
