Maxsurf Stability for bow thruster

Hello,

I have a hull with a cut for the bow thruster. Now I have to do analysis with Maxsurf Stability Module. How can I add that cut in Maxsurf Stability Module? Please Help me.

    There are 2 ways you can do this:

    You can model it in modeler to be as it looks in real life. Add a transverse cylinder and trim the hull and the cylinder to each other. Take a look at the Offshore Supply Vessel Design Quickstart for a good example here (File | Design Quickstarts)

    The problem with this method is that if you have 50 or 100 hydrostatic sections in your model, then only one or two of them will intersect the bowthruster. So you won't get an accurate representation of the volume.

    The second method is to create a non-buoyant volume using boundary surfaces. The non-buoyant volume will be defined with at least 12 sections, so the volume is accurately represented. Further, you can set a permeability to account for the propeller and boss.

    The process here is:

    - In Modeler, create a transverse cylinder with end caps. Set the type of those surfaces to Structure in the Properties window.

    - Do not trim the hull or the cylinder to each other.

    - Open the model in Stability

    - Select all of the surfaces that define the extents of your thruster cylinder in the Assembly Pane. Right click and "Create Tank From Boundary Surfaces"

    - In the Room Definition window, change the type to Non-Buoyant Volume.

    - Ensure that display of Non-buoyant volumes is turned on.
