Hi everyone!
My question is if it is possible to import a .dat (Moses-)file into MaxSurf?
I am trying to do a barge motion analysis using the panel method in Maxsurf, I am mainly interested in retrieving the Roll RAO and roll damping matrix of a barge in zero speed using the panel method. For now I am only interested in the potential damping, I will add the viscous damping effects at a later stage.
When researching a noticed that there are quite some barge-models readily available as Moses files on the web. I have some trouble with my mesh model right now so I figured it might be possible to import this Moses file into maxsurf to be able to have a properly meshed model to do the analysis with.
Is there any way of easily importing a .dat file into Maxsurf?
thanks a lot!!
Bart
Hi Bart K,
The models in the MOSES directory also have an msd version. Are you not able to open the msd version?

Hi Georgina,
thanks for your quick response!
I am looking in the following (Ultramarine) location on the web, they only list .dat files of the barges.
http://www.ultramarine.com/hdesk/tools/vessels/cbarges/cbarges.htm
Is there another location that msd versions as well?
thanks!
The msd files are in the VesselLibrary directory. The path on my machine is shown below.
C:\Program Files\Bentley\Engineering\MOSES CONNECT Edition V12\VesselLibrary
You might have a different version, but the path should be the same.
Thanks! I will check with my colleague (he runs the maxsurf on his PC, while i am trying to solve this challange ;).
For my understanding though, could I ask if the path you mention above is in the MAXSURF folder? We now only have a MAXSURF (enterprise) license, no MOSES license.
thanks a lot!
Hi Bark,
These files are in the MOSES folder.
Can you contact me at georgina.maldonado@bentley.com. I will try to look up details about your contract with Bentley.
