Clipping in MAXSURF Modeler

Hello,

Could you please tell me about clipping in MAXSURF modeler/Structure? What it mean? I am quite confused about clipping.

  • Hi,

The clipping is part of the MAXSURF Structures tools, for creating frames, decks etc as part of your design for construction.

Using frames as an example, the frame will be formed to the extents of the hull. However you may want it to be smaller, such as only between the keel and the tank top. In this case, you would set clipping on the top at the height of the tank top.

Similar works for the openings in frames. You can set a constant web depth frame opening, but clip it to only be on one side of centerline for example.

Experiment with clipping the top and the bottoms of frames first, these are the easiest to grasp.

    Regards,

    James
