Hello to everyone,I want to ask a short question. I am interested in submarines and I want to work with Maxsurf. Can I analyse with the Stability Module, is there a way or criterion for this?If there is, how can I do it or where can I get it from?Stay healthy, best regards.
Hi Mehmet,
What analyses are you after?
For a surfaced submarine, it behaves the same as a ship. You can create GZ curves etc as you would for any surface vessel.
Once you are submerged and have no waterplane area, All you are doing is maintaining an equilibrium between buoyancy and weight. For this you are running specified condition analyses or upright hydrostatics.
If you are diving your submarine deep enough to get bulk deformation then your hull will shrink and have less buoyancy. On the surface, we can simulate hogging and sagging type deflections by bending the water surface. However, underwater we can't make those changes. You would need to update your model with the deflected shape and reanalyze it for depth.

Hi James, Thank you for your comments. I want to see if it meets the criteria (pass or fail), however I could not find any relevant criteria. Is there any relevant criteria?Best Regards.
we have not provided any specific criteria for submarines. However all the criteria are full customisable from about 100 different calculation from the GZ curve, so you should be able to add your own customised criteria to meet the requirements of the code you are working to. There are all manner of criteria you can set up - area under GZ curve, GZ value, required angles, etc. If you can send me a copy of the code you are using I can help you determine which calculations to use. pat dot couser at bentley dot com
Hi Pat,
I want to use DNV GL rules for submarines. Are the criteria as I shared above, or can I dowload more from somewhere?
Best Regards.
if you dont see them in the list, you will have to define them yourself. Do you have the reference of the DNVGL document you are using?

Here is my reference.
