dear maxsurf egent.
i have a problem getting the mass value for some plates in my design model. i have created all the plates using the method " Plating a Whole Surface." see attached picture below.
also, why i see only plates on one side of the ship? surface model is created symmetrical and i have modelled only one side.
thanks for advance
ragnar
to add. surfaces that don't give mass value are trimmed surfaces.
Hi Ragnar,
We don't show the symmetry in the rendered view. However in the plan / perspective / body plan views and non-rendered perspective view you should be able to see the symmetry on plates.
I'm suspicious that the areas are zero. Can you test two things for me:
- Run Plates | Calc All Plates and confirm that the area is still zero.
- In the Assembly Pane, right click on one of the plates with zero area and select Show Only Selected. Can you see the plate? Or does it actually have zero area?
Let me know how it goes
James
Dear James
Thanks for your replay.
You are correct that areas have zero value.
I did calculated all plates again and still the area is zero. Also, I see the zero area plate. I have attached the actual model so you can play around with it.
Best regards
Ragnar

For future rerference, can you please post the *.msd (model) and *.wsd (structure) files. I only received the msd file.
But I did manage to recreate this problem. If the surface is not visible then the area will calculate to zero. Ensure that all surfaces are visible when calculating the plates.
Regards,
Thanks James
This has solved the issue.
