Stability Criteria Failed in Maxsurf

Hello,

I am a novice in Maxsurf stability, I am learning Large angle stability in Maxsurf. For my learning, I open a sample hmd file in stability, it was sample design > Ships > ContainerShip_Pro.hmd . Here sample loadcase is pregiven. I just applied the criteria and Heeling angle from Analysis menu and press start analysis. It open a word file like this. Some criteria is failed  Could you please tell me what's wrong with this? (NB, The ship LBP is 105m, which is greater than 100m)

  • Hi Ocean Man,

So - from what I can see here, these criteria have failed because the boat doesn't pass stability. I can't see anything wrong - but I also can't see much info.

The descriptions on the rules point you to look at 2.3.2.6 of the code (I found it on page 25 of https://www.traficom.fi/sites/default/files/media/regulation/31519-MSC_267%2885%29.pdf)

So at the moment, your "must be greater than" values are probably all high because you haven't calculated the C values.

As a general rule for troubleshooting I would recommend:

     - Use Display | Data Format (when the criteria window is active) to view the Verbose results. This lets you see interim values such as the angle at which limits have been measured

     - Look at the GZ curve and see if anything looks out of the ordinary

     - Recall views from the analysis to see if there are any unexpected trim issues etc.
