How to solve Convergence error?

Guys, when I start Large Angle Stability module the program returns a message about convergence error.

How could I solve this?

  • Hi Rodrigo,

If you have a careful read of that warning dialog, it has most of the things to try on it. I can add a few more ideas:

     - Check your sections are formed correctly. Change to the Body Plan view and use Display | Show Single Sections in Body Plan View, then click in the white inset box and use the arrow keys to cycle through every section to see that the shape is correct. You should be doing this for every model you open, every time you recalculate sections.

     - Switch to one of your graphical views (Persepctive window is good) you view what is happening when the software is unable to converge. You should be able to see if the vessel is excessively pitching etc.

    - Try similar analyses to see if they work, such as:

         - in Large Angle Stability, set the trim to be fixed at zero

         - Run Specified Condition Analysis using the Loadcase values for your initial condition and specify some heel angles.

Can you post up some screenshots of your model?

    Regards,

    James
