Hi everyone,
Could someone explain me how SACS consider bouyancy mass their dynamic analysis? In Dynpac tutorial (§2.3.1), it said "For structures immersed in fluid, the added or virtual mass and the mass of entrapped fluid ca nbe generated automatically", does it mean buoyancy is considered as a added mass?
Also, please let me know if there is somewhere we can find the formulas for above caclulations.
Thank you in advance,
Anthony
What are the added mass coefficients considered by SACS?
Hi Antooo,
The added mass is different from the buoyancy force. It is the product of the sectional area and the added mass coefficients which can be directly input by users. Then, normal and tangential added masses are broken into each X, Y, and Z component and added to the mass matrix.
