TRANSFER FUNCTION PLOTS NOT MATCHING LISTING

Dear all, When running the transfer function plots option with seastate I get a chart showing the points base shear/wave height. When checking I noted:

seancf file base shear/wave height for a period X=16 sec reads Y=1268.489 KN/M I.E. implying H x 1268.489 = 17.131x1268.489 = 21730 kN base shear.

when reading the listing file for this case:

Max base shear equals 10997 kN wave height 17.131 m >> 10997/17.131 = 640 i.e. >> does not match 1268 the plot.

So my query is, how can I calculate back the plotted transfer function dots in my SACS listing file to my opinion I should be able to retrieve the same numbers.

Thanks alot. kind regards, Robert

  • Transfer function is Range (Base Shear) / Wave Amplitude. It is NOT wave height.

    1268*17.131/2 = 10861 ~ 10997 kN

It is not match as I do not know how you get 10977kN. You cannot directly get the base shear from wvrlst.

It is a Range of Base Shear..... Then,

BS Range in X = Max. Base Shear X-dir. - Min Baseshear  X-dir.

BS Range in Y = Max. Base Shear Y-dir. - Min Baseshear  Y-dir.

    BS Range = (Range in X ^ 2+ Range in Y^2)^0.5

RAO shown in ncf is BS Range / (0.5*Wave Height)
