SACS Spectral wave Fatigue

When we are performing stage wise fatigue analysis, we generate a fatigue damage output file from one analysis then we need to use the same file as fatigue damage input file in my next analysis. How do we convert the fatigue damage output file TO fatigue damage input file?

OR

Is there any other way to generate a fatigue damage input file from the fatigue list file.

  • You select the fatigue damage input/output or both option in FTOPT2 line, column 76.  You may also like to refer to FTOPT2 card in the fatigue manual.

  • Dear Thang,

The option provided in FTOPT2 line column 76, gives the below options:

    > I : Requests for an input damage file.

    > O: Generates a damage output file

    > B: Requests for an input damage file and Generates a damage output file.

This does not answer my query. I rephrase my query "How do we create a damage input file."

The input damage file for 2nd period is to be created from damage output file from the 1st period. So, how do we convert the output damage file (from 1st period) to input damage file (for 2nd period).

  • For your first analysis, you need to select 'O' to output the damage.  For the next analysis, please select 'I' to input the damage from the first analysis.  Or you can also select 'B’ for the damage input and also to output the damage file.  Repeat the process for your entire analysis.  Please try it using a sample analysis. Sample 07 and Sample 08 in the Project folder on the Executive are Fatigue analyses.  After you have selected the fatigue damage file - input/output or both, save it and reload the fatigue input file.  You will then see you can upload the fatigue damage input file from the Executive, as shown below.

  • Dear Thang,

I have chosen the O for the first damage analysis, an output damage file is created. For my 2nd fatigue analysis, do I have to chose "B" and input the Output damage from 1st analysis or something? Apparently I tried that way and I also tried doing the 2nd analysis separatedly, the damage is not accumulated. The damage output of the 2nd analysis in 2 cases are the same.

Can you show me the way to create the Input damage file for the 2nd analysis?

  • If you combine the damages, you should be getting the accumulated damage results.  Perhaps the damages are so small, and the damages are not significant?  Please try using larger damages and see if you get the combined damages. Should you still have issue with it, please feel free to log a service request ticket and provide your input and run files for technical support’s review.
