MOSES Time Reinforce

Dear MOSES Team,

Why does MOSES system in Time Domain Process consider ''time reinforce'' of 12000s (3.3hrs) instead of 10800s (3hrs) seeing that as per the DNV, the value of the maximum of a variable with the highest probability of occurring over a period of 3 hours?

Thank you.

  • Hi Mustofa,

    Thank you for your question.

I am not aware of DNV having a set value for the seeds used for phasing. The seed value is a method to control the phase components.  MOSES uses the t_reinforce value to control the wave components.  The time step where all the phasing will be reinforced is a way to control the phase components.

I am not sure what you mean by quoting the phrase, "the value of the maximum of a variable with the highest probability of occurring over a period of 3 hours."  Yes, the analysis should report the maximum of tensions, excursions, etc for a 3-hour simulation.  This does not define the seed, the time for reinforcement of the phases.

The default is 12,000 seconds, as you have stated.  You can always change the value with the command "&env ename -t_reinforce value".

    I hope this helps.
