How to get the linear damping coefficient considered in time domain?

I wanted to compare the damping coefficients considered in time domain against the coefficients calculated using BV NR 493 rules (attached). Can anyone tell me how to get the linear damping coefficients used in time domain?

Otherwise, can we input the manually calculated damping coefficients in time domain?

  • Good morning Mahesh,

the damping coefficient cannot be defined in MOSES. We often calculate it from a free roll decay analysis in the time domain. Of course the damping coefficient depends on the underwater geometry of a body. I would expect some deviation from the tabulated values of BV NR 493.
