Dear All ,
Good Day
Could anyone help me by giving a reference for calculating Gross tonnage of a ship with open cargo hold ( No hatch cover) The ship looks like as below:
The cross section of cargo hold is as below:
Thank You All
hi what software are you using? if MAXSURF, then I suggest doing upright hydrostatics with the vessel completely submerged to get the total volume
Hi Thanks for your reply. How can I calculate submerged volume in maxsurf. In hydrostatic calculation should I put extra draft? Please help.
Thanks
yes, do Upright Hydrostatics and put the draft above the top of the vessel - for example put the draft at 100m
Thanks, I got it. After certain draft, displacement isnt changing. means that is total enclosed volume. By the way, can you refer me any rule for gross tonnage calculation of ship with open cargo hold ( no hatch coam'g). My understanding is for open cargo hold ship, cargo hold volume wont be accounted in gross tonnage calculation. By this way total volume is also matching with maxsurf enclosed volume ( by submerging the model). But I dont have any rule exactly applicable for open cargo hold ship, I cant convince my clients.
sorry I dont - the main document I know about is
