Hello,
I'm trying to understand the reason of different results from a barge model, that has been defined in two alternative methods.
The barge is a simple box 300 ft long, 20 tall, 90 wide.
* The first model, named tow_brg.dat is defined with the pgen command. The case test_rao.cif perform the simulation.* The second model, named tow_brg_gen.dat is defined with the brg_gen command. The case test_rao_gen.cif perform the simulation.
Apparently the two models are identical: the hydrostatic computations confirm that they are equivalent.
But the hydrodynamic results are totally different, for instance the added inertia (page 6 of the output report) for the model generated with the brg_gen macro is unrealistic.
Any suggestion is welcome
Doug
test_rao.zip
tow_brg.dat has a section labeled "CLASSES" toward the bottom. This is inconsistent with the brg_gen macro.
I took out that extra weight and the coefficients match.
Please give that a try.
Georgina Maldonado
Thanks Georgina,
I tried to comment-out the CLASSES section on both the barge definition files, but the huge difference between the two simulations persists.
I see no appreciable change in the results.
May I'm doing something wrong?
Best regards
