Trying to model 2D wave (carpet) spectrum in MOSES either from a forecast or measured data. Is there a software limit on the number of wave spectra (user defined from different directions) that can be applied at the same time, and can they each have their own spreading function? Looking to fold the spread energy into a number of discrete seastates.

Are you talking about using the option on &env command -a_sea and -spread?
I have seen it used five times on one command. I suspect you are talking about many more than five. Theoretically, there is no limit on the number of times you can use the -a_sea option.
The -spread option can only be used once.
I am not clear on your implementation. I will stop here with my response.

Thanks for the quick reply and you are correct, these are the commands I am referring to. I potentially will receive or measure wave energy involving multiple coincident swells and wind driven wave energy from many directions. If I have a very large number of -a_sea available I don’t think I need -spread. I think I could slice the 360 degrees of wave energy into many many 1 dimensional spectra and vary the heading between each. If there is a tight constraint on number of -a_sea I might still need a -spread function and as I understand it the same spreading function would be applied to each of the -a_sea which is not ideal.
So I am requesting the software limit, if there is one, of the number of -a_sea so as to avoid using the -spread function for this atypical use.

I checked with the developers. The source code does not limit the number of times you can use the -a_sea option. Please be aware that MOSES reads 360 characters in one line. You might want to use the line continuation feature.

We finally tested this and the maximum number of spectra (primary and -a_sea) seems to be 5. Developers, is there a way to relax this limitation please?
