Problem Description

When opening Maxsurf Stability Advanced from the Windows Start menu or Start screen, the splash screen displays Maxsurf Stability Enterprise and utilizes the Maxsurf Enterprise license in trial mode. This behavior occurs if Maxsurf licenses have not been explicitly activated yet.

Steps to Resolve

1. For Windows 7 and earlier: Open the Windows Start menu, select All Programs -> Bentley Engineering -> Maxsurf 20 V8i, and then select either License Tool or License Tool (x64).
   For Windows 8: Open the Windows Start screen, and click either the License Tool or License Tool (x64) tile.
2. A License Management Tool will display with an Activation Status tab pre-selected. Select all Maxsurf licenses, and click the Activate button in the lower right corner. Any listings for which you have licenses will change to a status of Activated.
   
3. Close the License Management Tool.

When Maxsurf Stability Advanced is opened now, the splash screen will display Maxsurf Stability Advanced. By default, Maxsurf Stability Advanced will log usage against a Maxsurf Stability Advanced license, if present on your license file. Otherwise, it will log usage against a Maxsurf Advanced license if present. To override this behavior, select Licensing Preferences from the Edit menu, and change the license specified in the drop-down menu. Please note that the Maxsurf selection has no effect since this product requires an Advanced license or higher, and an Enterprise license will open the product as Maxsurf Stability Enterprise.
