Small Icons on high resolution screens

    Product(s): MAXSURF
    Version(s): varies
    Area: Screen Resolution

    Problem

Users with very high resolution screens are finding that the icons in MAXSURF are very small and hard to see.

    Solution

We can use View | Toolbars | Customise Toolbars in MAXSURF Stability to set the software to use Large Icons. However, if you are moving between a 4k laptop screen and lower resolution external monitor then you don't want one setting for both screens.

We can instruct Windows to treat the software as DPI Aware. We do this through importing a registry key. One of the great things about this solution is that Windows will adapt per monitor, so you can view the icons at a good size on a high resolution laptop and low resolution external monitor.

Depending on the version of MAXSURF installed on your system, you may need to change the names of the executables in the text file below (basically just remove the '64' suffix if you have version 23.06 or newer):

The attached file is a text file. Internet security doesn't like *.reg files, so you will need to download it and rename the extension from *.reg.txt to *.reg Make sure that file extensions are visible on your computer.

Once you have changed the file extension, double click to run the file.
