Problem

How does SACS calculate C1 factor for Mcr determination as per Euro Code?

Solution

SACS refers Annex F of Euro Code 1993, 1992 edition table F.1.1. If you refer Post Manual, Section 3.6.5, it is mentioned that based on user input in GRUP line Column 47, the K factor is considered in SACS which is mentioned in Table F1.1 of Euro code. For each member, for a given load case, based on the end bending moment values, SACS will internally calculate the psi factor. When the psi factor is obtained, Tab F1.1 will be referred, and proper interpolation shall be done in case of any psi factor that does not fall within the given set in the Table F.1.1. This is valid for all type of load cases and combinations, irrespective of shape of bending moment diagram. 0 values of end bending moment is adjusted internally by changing that to a very small number. There may be cases when span moment would appear larger in magnitude than the designated end moments. However, SACS calculates the psi value only based on ratio of smaller end moment to larger end moment. It does not refer any other table or equation.

If you want to see the C1 factor in the member detail output, you need to use CODE line with EC option and select a National Annex in Column 34-35.
