Pile Local Co-ordinate System

Product(s):SACS

Problem

In PSI manual, section 2.3.3.2 defines the pile local coordinate system. Also, in section 3.4.4 pile local coordinate system is defined. What are the differences in these 2 sections? Why the axis shown in the sections do not match?

Solution

The PSI manual is a combined PSI and Pile3D manual. SecĀ 2.3.3.2 is for the PSI module and section 3.4.4 is for the Pile3D module. Hence, the difference are observed for the separate modules.

Internal loads of pile are reported in SACS with the following sign convention, where "a" is the pile head location and "b" is the location at which the load is being reported.
