Community Question:

Hello Bentley In the Wave card, when we select stream functions and leave the order in blank, What does "selected based on ATKINS" mean?

Answer

The option Atkins refers to the "Fluid Loading on Fixed Offshore Structures" Document Prepared by Atkins Engineering Sciences for the Department of Energy,  basically means that SACS chooses the order of the stream wave sufficiently high to correctly represent it, in the next graph you can see the stream function order (N) vs depth divided by gravitational acceleration times wave period squared (d/gT^2) for different H/gT^2. After calculating it SACS rounds N to an integer. As you can see for larger wave heights or shallower waters we have to use higher N.
