LCSEL command in SACS

Version(s):All
Area:SACS IV

Problem

When executing basic static analysis for an offshore structure, to incorporate P-delta effect, should I enter LCSEL command twice or can it be merged as one? Also, how the LCSEL dynamic option works with Dynpac run?

Solution

The p-delta load case selection determines which loads are used to modify the stiffness matrix; the general load case selection determine which loads are part of the force matrix. If you want to analyze your p-delta load as a static load case, you will need to enter it twice. Typically, your p-delta load case will be part of a separate load combination though which also includes lateral loading.

The dynamic load case selection determines which load cases are converted into mass when using the SA-Z option. If the load case selection line is not used, all load cases analyzed will be used to generate mass. If you don't have the SA-Z option selected, the load cases will not be converted into mass.
