How is the "Bourdon effect" evaluated by the software when this option is enabled?

The bourdon effect applies to the pressure extension load cases for the model on bends. Could you confirm that the Calculate Pressure Extension Cases checkbox is checked? To apply the bourdon effect on sustained code compliance stresses, ensure the "Inc. Axial, Pcase in Sus." checkbox in the Result Model Options is checked.

Thank you for your quick response. Yes, in the second model both "bourdon effect" and "Inc. Axial, Pcase in Sus" chec box were enabled and the pressure extension check box was checked in the static analysis load case window.

I got the same stresses and same displacements. so I wonder how the Bourdon effect is included and does it has a certain pressure level or pipe size where the Bourdon effect kicks in ?

I do see a slight difference between your stresses before and after the Bourdon effect is applied to the model. The small stress value may attribute to the geometry, e.g. length of the legs and where anchors are applied. Do you have anchors on both ends of the model? If you run through WALKTHRU and perform the same procedures, you should expect to see results from the Bourdon effect.

I can't see any difference between the before and after.
Can you please explain what's a WALKTHRU procedure? can you share a link showing how to perform this please.

WALKTHRU is a model included with your version of the program. It can be found in the "Example" folder of your installation directory (default location is C:\Bentley). Open the WALKTHRU model and compare results with the Bourdon Effect unchecked, then checked (ensure pressure extension is enabled as well).
In the PDF of your first post, there is a slight difference between your stresses before (11456.69 N/mm2) and after (11455.87 N/mm2), which means that the Bourdon is affecting your model in some way. The same can be seen for the Moment-In column.
