I want to know why there is an option to select valves joint end type as Weldneck and Slip-on.
In my opinion, the joint end connection like this is associated with flanges to pipe connection only, so what purpose does it serves to select weldneck or slip-on as joint end type in valve data input.
Am I incorrect asking this question? Is there any information that I am missing?
Thank you
Can anyone reply to this?
In general, the Joint End Type drop down shows all the different joint end types for which the selected piping code provides SIF values. Apart from the valve dialog, the Joint End Type is available on the Joint Type and Uer SIF dialog (Insert > Xtra Data > Joint Type and User SIF), Flange dialog, and Flexible Joint dialog. The list of available joint end types on all these dialogs remain the same. Note that the Joint End Type selection is used to calculate the SIF value as per the selected piping code.
It may be better approach if the joint end type drop down displayed the joint end types which are applicable for the component being inserted. For the time being, you can ignore the joint end types which does not apply. In case your desired joint end type is not listed, you can always select "User-Defined" and provide applicable SIF value for that joint.
Hope this helps.
