How do I delete multiple supports at once in input grid without having to select which to delete from the pull down?

I am trying to delete multiple supports that exist as duplicates at single nodes. When I attempt to delete by selecting the supports in the input grid, it still prompts me to select from the pull down. This is extremely time consuming. Is there a work around?

  • In the input grid select the supports you would like to delete and press the Delete key instead of using the buttons in the ribbon or D+S.

  • I did and it still forces me to select a support to delete. I have duplicates at single nodes and want to mass delete the duplicates.

  • Good Day Daniel,

There are multiple methods to deleting a support(s).

Method #1: (Sean was correct) Select the supports from the grid by using the mouse and Ctrl button & press delete.

    a. Open the input grids and select the Support tab,

    b. Hold down the keyboard Ctrl key,

    c. Left mouse click in First column of the grid or the Point column of the grid the support to be deleted,

    d. After the selection is complete just press the keyboard DEL key.

This will remove all the supports in the selection set.

Method #2: Delete all of a type of support

    a. Choose the Select Ribbon

    b. Select Piping Component> Supports command.

    c. Select the type of support  to be deleted, Press OK to close the dialog.

    d. Choose the Delete Ribbon

    e. Select Supports> Support command. on the popup dialog select Yes to confirm.

This will remove all the supports in the selection set.

Method #3: Use the Delete ribbon command.

    a. Choose the Delete Ribbon

    b. Hold down the keyboard Ctrl key, and select Node points by left clicking the mouse on any support at a node point. This will highlight the node point name not the support as in the previous steps above.

    c. Once the selection set is complete, press the Delete> Supports> Support command.

This will delete all supports at a node point.

Really this is just an exercise in, making a selection set. AutoPIPE provides many methods of selecting pipes, components, etc.. they just use a Keyboard or Modify command button to remove the item(s) from the model.

  • I was incorrect. The little experiment I ran only involved two supports at a single point. When there's more than two, my answer is not valid.

  • Revisiting this, this still is not possible. Any clue when this feature could come out? It would be nice to select the individual nodes and delete them without a) having to delete ALL of the supports or b) having to select in the box for each node.
