Hi all,
Does anyone explain to me the way that Autopipe accounts the weight of contents ?
An example:
Pipe 32"-STD 5m length and completely filled with water.
The UNIT system is SI.
I thought that in this case, the "specific gravity of contents" would be 1, but seem to be not correct, because the contents weight shown on report is 2473kg. It's larger much more than the hand cal. is 120kg.
So, how does Autopipe calc. this value? and what value of specific gravity should be?
Trinh,
You are incorrectly multiplying the steel cross sectional area of the pipe with the length and density. You should multiple the pipe inside area to get the correct answer. Your screen capture shows the filled weights which are in-line with AutoPIPE calculations. If you calculate the weight of contents from your values, you will get the correct answer as reported by AutoPIPE:

Well, you are correct.
Thanks for remind me.
