Autopipe End Capped Effect Option

Is there an option for autopipe to change the piping system to 'open' system (ie. no end cap effect)?

I am very sure that default autopipe is 'closed' system (ie. with end cap effect), because i can match the axial stress from autopipe by considering the end cap effect from autopipe pipe forces.

  • Hello HengChuan,

As of Nov 2019, No. there is no option for having or not having end cap effects in part of the model. As you have determined the system will always have an end cap effect .

However, there are some options available,  the following will be applied to the entire model:

If you are interested in ignoring the longitudinal Pressure Stress in sustained, you can set the Result> Model Option> “Long. Pressure (P/A/M/N)” to N. This way the longitudinal Pressure stress will not be included in Sustained and Occasional stress calculations.

If you are interested in ignoring the axial pressure force and moments due to pressure extension, you can set the Result> Model Option> “Inc. Axial, Pcase in Sus” to be unchecked, or uncheck Pressure Extension from Analysis set.
