Non-code combination Maximum load

Hi,

Using RESULT - RESTRAINT or RESULT - SUPPORT it is easy to see the maximum load on any support in an AutoPIPE model.

Is there an easy way to access these maximums in the RESULTS GRID, or as a report in EXCEL ?

I've typically had to create a non-code combination to show the maximum loads on the supports, or performed this calculation in excel. But in a model with lots of load cases it takes a while to set up the non-code combinations to determine an overall absolute maximum (sign max). Is there a quicker way ?

Thanks

Fergus

  • Hello Fergus,

First, I would suggest not using Restraint / Support commands (Result > Interactive > Restraint / Support). This floating dialog is very Limited on functionality. Instead highly suggest to use Result Grid (Home > Results > Result Grid) command which has powerful features (ex. filter options, double click column heading to order values in ascending / descending order, easily copy / paste all data to MS Excell, etc..

To answer your question, my preferred method would be:

    1. import a combination file from a template model as mentioned here with all the default settings / combinations already assigned for a typically project.

    2. As mentioned above, use the results grids, filter out the desired type of supports / combinations, copy / paste to MS Excell, and use the data commands to find / report specific areas of interests.

  • Hi Mike,

    Thank you for your response.

My question was, is there an easy way to set up a non-code combination to report the maximum load in each direction on a support ?

What we are after is similar to the functionality provided by the RESULT- RESTRAINT floating dialog.

We use the results grid often, but this doesn't give the maximums at each support location, just the values for each combination.

If this functionality is currently not available, I suggest it be added to a future release of AutoPIPE.

    Thanks
