Hi,
I've been following the useful guidance available in this forum to run harmonic analysis in autopipe. The analysis represents a flow induced pulsations scenario in a subsea FTA piping system.
The results show an animated deflected shape which oscillates from nominal position to the +X direction (lateral) and back again, i.e. it doesn't swing from the furthest +X to furthest -X position. Is this purely a limitation on autopipes output plot or is there something more which needs to be considered in the analysis approach?
I'm under the view that vibrations in the system would oscillate the piping in +ve and -ve directions rather than to/from the nominal position.
Thanks!
Greetings,
I would suggest that you review the WIKI pages related to Modal analysis and Dynamic analysis here. There is a lot of material to read, review, and understand. The most important being that all Dynamic results are positive. You can always add a new user combination that use a -1.0 factor to see the -ve affects of a dynamic load.
