Effective versus theoretical section modulu

Going through the 'Help' topics, I've seen mention of the phrases 'effective' section modulus and 'theoretical' section modulus.  How is the section modulus (equation?) calculated for non-tee components, specifically for B31.1 1986, but in general for B31.1 and Section III piping?  Is this explained anywhere in the documentation?  The section modulus for tee connections are fairly specific in these Codes.  My question pertains to non-tee components.

For Please see the following AutoPIPE help section:
Help > Contents> Search Tab> enter "effective section modulus" (include the quotes), press List Topics button, double click on the selected topic from the list provided to see more information.

Select any of the options from PIpe Properties down for details.

Next, perform the same type of search but this time use "Theoretical Section Modulus".

These 2 help searches will provide the details on how these values are calculated. However, I must ask you to clarify the: "Going through the 'Help' topics, I've seen mention of the phrases 'effective' section modulus and 'theoretical' section modulus.".

Note, one needs to be careful to look at the help section currently being read and for what piping code. It is easy to get turned around in the help when using a search feature. I have not seen anything mentioned about Effective Section Modulus or Theoretical Section Modulus in ASME B31.1. Therefore, not sure of the reference you speak of in your questions.
