Pipe stress and axial force

Hello everyone,

I have two questions about pipe stress and axial force in the model after interpretation the results from model.

I've attached the file to this post.

  1. Why is the force at A41 to A06 in the model the same? Should it be reduced because of friction of support? (GRTP case) Also, it happens on another side of the pipe (symmetric area) (point A07-A25)
  2. When I see the stress results (Rest+Function), the stress at every point is the same. I have doubt to this because I think the stress result at every point should be different due to axial force difference.case study 1.DAT
  • Greetings,

First, suggest that you update to the most recent version of the application at this time, 12.08.03.15.

Second, whenever sharing a file with others who do not have access to your folder where the model is stored, best to send AutoPIPE APC file.

    To answer your questions

    1. Why is the force at A41 to A06 in the model the same? Should it be reduced because of friction of support? (GRTP case) Also, it happens on another side of the pipe (symmetric area) (point A07-A25)

    Answer:

Whenever trying to understand the results, best to have a print out of the results to one side and then to animate the given load case. In this scenario, if you were to animate loadcase GrT1P1, and view the model from the z axis, you will see why the results for these supports are the same. If you do not see it here, then review the Support report. What is the loads on the supports in question, hint 0.00 N, why?

    2. When I see the stress results (Rest+Function), the stress at every point is the same. I have doubt to this because I think the stress result at every point should be different due to axial force difference.

    Answer:

To help answer this question, you should review the code calculation and the load cases that make up the combination. In this particular instance, the answer is in the load cases that make up the combinaiton, hint (LONG).
