AutoPIPE Acceleration Results Reports - Potential Error and Question

Background:

I am performing a standard piping analysis to B31.1 code with seismic response spectrum load case inputs (acceleration vs frequency) using AutoPIPE version 12.04.

Modal analysis is performed, then the seismic load cases, and stress combinations.

There are accelerations for certain components (e.g., valves) that need to be generated and reviewed.   The AutoPIPE output report (text or excel file) provides the acceleration results.

Requested Information:

  1. Is there a way to display response spectrum acceleration results using the 'interactive' results viewer (showing deformed model and acceleration values?
    1. The AutoPIPE 'interactive" menu has a way to display displacement results and filter results.
    2. This would be helpful, and seems like it should be part of the program capabilities.
  2. There may be an error in the output report
    1. The AutoPIPE "Result Model Options" allows users to output acceleration results in g's (see Figure 1 below)
    2. The corresponding output report (see Figure 2 below) still shows units of in/s/s and not g's

Figure 1 - AutoPIPE Result Model Option, showing acceleration output option

Figure 2 - AutoPIPE Output Acceleration Report, units in in/s/s and not g's

  • Greetings,

    To answer your questions:

Q1. Is there a way to display response spectrum acceleration results using the 'interactive' results viewer (showing deformed model and acceleration values?

    Answer

Unfortunately there is no such feature available today, June 20233. Suggest that you please post your IDEA as mentioned here

Q2. There may be an error in the output report. The AutoPIPE "Result Model Options" allows users to output acceleration results in g's (see Figure 1 below). The corresponding output report (see Figure 2 below) still shows units of in/s/s and not g's

    Answer

You are correct. This will be logged (1218336) and fixed in a future version of the program.
