Shock loading in Autopipe vessel

I want to apply the shock loading to the horizontal vessel mounted on the saddles. Loading is assimilated as the equivalent static acceleration in three mutually perpendicular directions acting independently(No combinations) in operating condition.

Is there any provision to apply and design for this loading in Autopipe.

I was trying to simulate the shock loading by giving the motion load option in Autopipe. Is it the right option to choose for shock loading?

While giving motion loading in transverse direction, getting error message as " Effective sadle angle<30 degrees." How to resolve this error.

Any kind of help is appreciated.

Thanks.

  • If you can find the equivalent inertial force due to shock and the corresponding acceleration then you can apply it as motion load. That will be correct approach. Please attach file for your second question. Attach directly or email to me at sudip.ganguly@bentley.com

you have a very high transverse load perhaps due to which the angular shift due to transverse reaction is very high and the effective angle after subtracting this shift is less than 30 degree. You can increase the saddle angle and try again. you may use other type of saddles as well.
