With reference to pressure vessel design in AutoPIPE Vessel, would like to have clarification regarding lifting Lug support design:
It is understood that this is a very small vessel and design is very simple for erection and lifting, but this is an attempt to understand the design philosophy used in software.
Excerpts from the design report are attached here. Kindly provide clarification with reference to above points & highlighted portions marked in images below.
Allowable stress: depending on the Design Code
Analysis thickness: general calculations of welds (example: ASME UW-16)
Shear stress : force factor according to CM66 §1.212-1
Reduction factor and Total stress formula: as per CM66 §4.312
As in the attached example, I have opted for no tailing lug. But it can be seen that the software has provided me the results of critical inclined position of 51.8 degree. If tailing lug is not provided on what basis this critical angle calculated? Kindly clarify.
With regard to point no. 4 of your answer.
Thanks for your reply.
