Cladding is a separate input in shell & heads dialog boxes and it is acting only as corrosion allowance, it does not participate in strength calculations.
However, on saddles calculations the shell thickness considered includes the cladding.
Can anybody please elaborate if there is an option on how to activate shell cladding on saddles calculations?
Hello Sir
Why do you want to consider cladding in the resistance of the shell during the support loads check?
Hello and thank you for your reply.
Actually, cladding of the shell is automatically considered during supports load check .
I want to find a way to disable this if there is an option.
It should not. Could you please send screenshots or create an SR? I'm afraid I cannot reproduce the problem so I'll need more info. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your reply.
In the below screenshot you can see that i have used as an input cladding of 3mm which does not participate in strength calcs.
In the second screenshot you can see that cladding (correctly) does not participate in strength calculations.
Required shell thk is 13mm + 3mm clad= 16mm nominal thk
In the third screenshot you can see saddles check due to seismic loads where full thk of 16mm (13+3) is used.
Is there an option where Cladding thk can be excluded from shell thk in saddles check.?
Thank you in advance,
You're right. There is an issue with the thickness considered in the (Corroded Weight)(New Weight) case. I will log a defect. As a workaround, you can:
-Uncheck the Freight Weight (New Weight)
-Check the Corroded weight
-Set a Factor on Weight or Apply two external loads on the saddles so that the extra weight (the one added by the cladding) is considered
By doing this the weight will be the New Weight (thanks to your correction) but APV will be also using the corroded inertias (and corroded thicknesses).
Please let me know if there are further questions.
