    02-03.a1: Example 1 - After import, how to fix piping that are not all connected?

    Problem:

    I have a piping system that spans multiple AutoPIPE models where more that one pipe connections is shared between the models, when I use Import or copy & paste technique, not all of the shared node points are connected correctly except the one where the import / paste command was performed. 

    Example: I have these 2 models, Pump Piping.DAT & Header Piping. DAT,  that need to be connected at the common flange node points:

    B02 connects to A00

    D02 connects to B00

    F02 connects to C00

    What is the proper procedure to import / copy & paste one model into the other?

    Solution:

    Recommend the following steps:

    1. Open Header Piping. DAT model in AutoPIPE.

    2. Select Node point A00 as the current point.

    3. Select File> Insert Model> AutoPIPE model (*.DAT).

    4. Select the 2nd model, Pump Piping.DAT, "Select base point" = enter "B02", and press OK, press OK again to accept the note message.

    5. On the paste dialog screen, use "Connect to selected points" = checked ON, and press OK button.

    6. Select Tools> "Coincident Node Check" command. The following should appear

    ---------------------------

    ---------------------------
    Co-incident nodes detected in model. Review warning messages.
    ---------------------------
    Yes No Cancel
    ---------------------------

    Press, Yes button:

    If the following appeared:

    ---------------------------
    Note
    ---------------------------
    N2154-12: Coincident node tolerance is zero, check disabled.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

    Use Tools> Model options> Edit> "Coincident Node Tolerance (0- no check)", enter a value (see online help for complete details on this command.

    7. AutoPIPE Report Viewer should appear displaying the results of the coincident node check, 

    Here one can clearly see that both B00 and C00 of the original Header Piping.DAT was not correctly connected to the adjoining piping when the Pump Piping.DAT model was imported. Only the original point A00, was correctly connected as it was the base point.

    8. How to fix the issue? Let us consider only one joint up close, B00 connected to H02. 

    Note:

    A. when the Pump Piping was imported into the Header Piping model all the node points of the Pump Piping model were update to the Header Piping model numbering system. Another words node point D02 was renamed to H02.

    B. Closer look at the piping provide another method to tell when there is a problem in a model:

    i. Notice how the node names B00 and H02 are directly on top of one another. 

    ii. Select a node point any where on segment H, example H01, use the Left / Right keyboard arrow to move the current point Up / Down the segment, in order to switch between connected segments, use the Up / Down arrows once and then again left / right arrows on the keyboard. However, because the segments are not connected, one can not use the keyboard arrows to jump to a disconnected system. So a disconnect must exist. Try the same technique on a segment that is already correctly connected between segments to get a feel for the key stokes. 

    iii. Another method to see disconnected systems, press Select> Connected Systems, see online help for complete details on this command.

    9. Select H02 as the current node point, press the Delete key to delete this node point.

    10. With node point H01 as the current point, press Insert> Run: specify "Name of Point" = B00 and press the keyboard TAB key once to accept the value and use the mouse to select the OK button to close the Run dialog screen. 

    The node points are correctly connected:

    11. Repeat as necessary for other node points specified in the coincident report above.

    12. As a final check, run the Tools> "Coincident Check command"  again, if everything was done correctly the following should be shown:

    N2154-11: No Coincident nodes found.
    ---------------------------
    OK
    ---------------------------

    Otherwise, review the report and continue to fix the problem areas until all have been fixed and the above message is displayed.
