Forrtl: severe (38): error during write, unit 11, file

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPIPE,
    Version(s): V8i
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Warning
Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group

    Problem:

The following occurs when using AutoPIPE V8i analyze all with hanger selection:

    Intel(r) Visual Fortran run-time error

Forrtl: severe (38): error during write, unit 11, file

    Solution:

Does this occur when you run Hanger analysis?

It appears the the issue is related to writing of Consistency Check Report in Temp folder.

    Please perform the following:

    1. Does this error comes after change in "Hanger Force". If you didn't change the Hanger Force then this model analyze fine?

    2. Open "Model Consistency Check" Report using menu command "Tool>> Model Consistency Check", what happens? does the error appear or does the report appear?

    3. Try to run AutoPIPE in administrator mode by closing the program, right click on the program ico used to start AutoPIPE, select "Run as administrator"

Retry all the previous steps to see if the same occurs or if there is a different reaction.

Furthermore, do check the location of the model, if user has permissions on the folder or if it is a network location. Maybe try copying the model to new folder on the desktop to try running it from there to see if the problem still continues.

Also make sure that the user does not have multiple versions of program installed. Opening older models with newer version is OK - but opening newer model with older version can corrupt model database if not done properly.

One other check, check the version of the Windows installed and the install location of the program - just to rule out any UAC playing a role - if program installed in a restricted folder.

Last suggestions, this message is known to be caused by some Anti-Virus program. Anti-Virus mess up the files generated by AutoPIPE. If the file is being used by any other process then AutoPIPE is unable to access them and throws this error code. Workaround, exclude AutoPIPE temp folder from Anti-Virus scanning. AutoPIPE temp folders are located in the following folder, C:\Users\user_name\AppData\Local\Temp. The folder names start with AP_ (example: AP_090600)

If the issue still appears after all the above suggestions, file a Service request and attache the answers / results to each of this questions / suggestions above for review by the CAE development team.
