"Use Alt. Occ Allowable" setting in AutoPIPE

Comments, Questions, and Answers about Results option setting "Use Alt. Occ Allowable"

Item #1:

In AutoPIPE 09.06.00.19 the results option "UseAlt. Occ. Allowable" is not functioning correctly for nonstandard materials. If the pipe material is "NS" then the allowable occasional stress is always 1.33 x Sh regardless of the setting of this option box (for non austenitic materials and T >427°C it should be 0.72 x Syt when "Use Alt. Occ. Allowable" is ticked).

Answer:

Please navigate to that setting in the program, once the dialog has appeared, highlight the setting "Use Alt. Occ Allowable and press F1 to see help on that specific setting. Furthermore, select any one of the hyper links for :

Occasional Stress Allowable (ASME B31.3 - 2010)

Occasional Stress Allowable (ASME B31.3 - 2012)

See the Notes at the very bottom of the page:

Note: AutoPIPE calculates Occasional Allowable as 1.33*Sh (for k=1.33) for materials with Critical Temperature Tcr = 0.0 or Yield Strength Syt = 0.0, regardless of Result Model Option "Use Alt. Occ. Allowable" being checked.

For Material = NS the Tcr = 0.0, and therefor is calculated as 1.33xSh.
