    05. After generating an Output report the Active Window is AutoPIPE program window and not the Report Viewer window

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPIPE,
    Version(s): 2004, XM, & V8i
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Report
    Subarea:
Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group

    Problem:

After creating an AutoPIPE output report, the AutoPIPE Report Viewer is displayed. However when I then use my mouse wheel or press the keyboard PgDN Key / Cntl+ Print, AutoPIPE Program Window reacts, sending the Report Viewer Window to the background behind the AutoPIPE Program window.

    Solution:

    This is expected behavior.

After entering a command to create an output report, AutoPIPE automatically opens the *.OUT file in the AutoPIPE Report Viewer application (apipview.exe). The AutoPIPE Report Viewer is a completely different application and opens in a new Window independent of the AutoPIPE Program widow (i.e. like having MS Word and Excel open at the same time). However, the current active window is still AutoPIPE. Therefore, by entering a keyboard command or mouse command, the commands will be performed in the active window, i.e. AutoPIPE Program Window. In order perform commands in the AutoPIPE Report Viewer window, after it automatically appears, just left click the mouse anywhere in the confines of the window for it to become the active window before issuing any commands by keyboard or mouse.

A new enhancement  been logged,  TFS-E148629: Report Viewer to be the active Window when opened. This should be added to a future version of the program.
