    01. Steps required to perform a Thermal Transient Analysis (TTA) in AutoPIPE

    Problem:

    What are the steps required to perform a Thermal Transient Analysis (TTA)

    Solution:

    This is one of those features that a user should attend an offical AutoPIPE training class to be properly trained in how to perform this analysis correctly. The following information should not be used as a sole training solution but to reinforce training already taken.

    This information will only cover the requirements of Load> Thermal Transient Analysis... dialog. It will not cover additonal steps required outside of this dialog for a complete nuclear analysis. TTA should be performed be running an analysis as the TTA load is associted to a specific Termalk case.

    General Procedure for using the Load> Thermal Transient Analysis dialog:

      1. Start AutoPIPE, open a model, and select Load> Thermal Transient Analysis..

      2. The following dialog will appear:

      3.  Select the "Add/Modify TTA Profile" button.

      4. The following dialog will appear.

      5. Enter a new Profile Filename in the space provided overwriting the word "NEW". This represent the name of the TTA  Profile that will be associated to a TTA analysis.

      6. There are 2 tabs Transient and Solution, first enter data as required on the transient tab.
        Note: The image on the right is dynamically updated as you enter data on this tab. 

      7. Select the Solution Tab. At least one line of information needs to be  entered. This will specify the length of time to run the TTA profile.

      8. Press OK button when all the daa has been entered. The TTA Profile should have been saved successfully. Press OK buton again.

      9. Select the "Add/Modify TTA" button.

      10. The following dialog will appear. This represent the name of the TTA analysis to be performed.   
      11. Enter a new TTA name in the space provided overwriting the word NEW, enter other data as required on this dialog, select HELP button for details on each field.

      12. Press the ... button next to Transient ProFile and select a profile to be associated with this TTA named analysis or create a new profile.

      13. When completed, press OK button 3x.

      14. Back on the main TTA analysis dialog screen, select "Pipe & Insulation Properties" button.



        Note: Pipe & Insulation properties are taken at model ambient temperature.

      15. There are 3 tabs on this dialog: Pipe , Insultaion, and Base Flow.

      16. Enter data on ALL 3 tabs as required.

        Note:  The last 2 columns on the Base Flow tab cannot be set to zero. User must enter a value to run the TTA analysis.

      17. When completed, press OK button.

      18. Back on the main TTA analysis dialog screen, select "Gross Disc Loc" button.

      19. Enter data as required for each location where there is Gross Discontinuity.

      20. When completed, press OK button. The Gross Disc Locations file should have been saved successfully. Press OK buton again.

      21. Back on the main TTA analysis dialog screen, select "Analyze" button.

      22. The following dialog screen should appear:

      23. Change settings as required and press OK button.

      24. If everthing was entered correctly the following should be displayed "TTA Analysis Completed Successfully", press OK button.

      25. Select Review Results button or View Summary Report button as required.

        Note: If the image or report is blank there is missing data on one of the dialog screens. Review all data to be correct and complete before re-running the analysis.
