We know the tank moves approx. 20mm vertically through elastic settlement from tank full to empty. And that the tank bulges circumferentially by a few mm due to hydro loads. I need to apply these displacements to the nozzle.
There are 2 different modeling approaches to consider. Choose the best one that suits your requirements:
1. Model the tank and nozzle connection
The approach takes into consideration the tank movement both vertically and circumstantially by actually modeling the vessel with pipe. See the following AutoPIPE help section for details on this approach:
Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Modeling Approaches> Modeling Approaches> Vessel and Nozzle.
2. Model the nozzle connection to the tank as an anchor with applied thermal anchor movements.
Insert an anchor at the nozzle location to the vessel. In addition, apply any known displacements as a thermal anchor movement. Please see the following AutoPIPE help section:
Help > Contents> Contents Tab> Modeling Approaches> Modeling Approaches> Anchor> Rigid Anchor with Thermal Movement.
Note: to take credit for the flexibility in the Vessel / Tank wall, add an AutoPIPE nozzle element before the the anchor element.
