Problem:

What is include into the output reports when segments in the model are hidden from View ("Show" check-box is unchecked on the segment tab of the input grid)?

Examples:

a. When the entire model is visible, the largest stress occurs at E55. If segment containing node point E55 is hidden what information will be available in the output report?

b. Piping in a single file contains piping inside and outside of a building. All the piping models as outside of the building is hidden from view, is this piping still considered in the analysis?

Solutions:

First, AutoPIPE's analysis considers everything in the model regardless if it's Segment - "SHOW" check-box is enabled or disabled. the question then becomes, What affect does checking the segment's "Show" box do in AutoPIPE:

1. Makes it easier or less congested to view when constructing / reviewing the model.

2. Reduces the information in the Results / Input grids to only segments whose "Show" check-box option is enabled.

Note:

a. When segments are un-selected under View> Segment then the data in all input grids will not be shown for the hidden segments except for the pipe properties, beam, soil ID grids.

3. Reduces the information in the Model Listing / Results Output report to only those segments whose "Show" check-box is enabled

Note:

a. Assuming that "Limit results to highlighted points" option is unchecked when creating a Model Listing report and/or Results Output report.

i. Model listing report, Tools> Model Listing>:

Regardless of what segments are hidden from view in the model, all the node point information will be reported.

ii. Results output report:

Only those segments / node points that are visible on screen will be printed in the Results report. This includes all sub-reports including "Results summary" with one exception, "Model Listing" sub-report. "Model Listing" will print all the information mentioned above.

b. "Limit results to highlighted points" option enabled

With this option enabled in the Result output report, only those node points highlighted will be exported to the report, with one exception the "Model listing" subreport will contain all the model data. However, if this option "Limit results to highlighted points" was enabled in the "Model listing" report also, then only the highlighted node point information will be available in both reports.
