    01. "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002)" Application error message appears when starting AutoPIPE, why?

    Applies To
    Product(s): AutoPIPE,
    Version(s): ALL
    Environment: N/A
    Area: Installation
Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group

    Error or Warning Message

When trying to start AutoPIPE the following error message appears:

“The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0150002). Click on OK to terminate the application”

    Explanation

This error can be caused by some installation issues of Bentley IEG License Service.

Or if STAAD Offshore was installed recently on the computer. STAAD offshore has its own version of Bentley IEG that is installed regardless if a newer version is already installed. This essentially downgrades the IEG service and corrupts other programs using it.

    How to Avoid

    Steps:

    1. Completely remove all “Bentley IEG License Service” versions from the computer (Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs or Programs and Features). In addition delete all system folders for Bentley IEG

    2. Reboot the computer

    3. Download the most recent copy of Bentley IEG License Service  from the Software Downloads link in CONNECTION Center

    4. Install Bentley IEG License Service

    5. Try to run all applications that use Bentley IEG (i.e. AutoPIPE, STAAD, STAAD Offshore, etc..)
