Q. "Error:= 1625" displayed when installing AutoPIPE

Problem:

The following is displayed when installing AutoPIPE, Error:= 1625

Furthermore the following was found in the Windows Event Viewer:

 

 Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Bentley AutoPIPE V8i SELECTseries4. Product Version: 09.05.01.05. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Bentley Systems. Installation success or error status: 1625.

How to resolve this issue?

Solution:

See the following document for typical "Windows System Error Codes (exit codes) Description", find code 1625 in the listing: 

1625 = This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator.

Therefore it seems that this issue is a problem with the system / company policy. Could be that installation is blocked from a CD by administrator.

Avoidance:

1. Contact your IT department and let them know about this error, they may be able to sort this policy issue.

OR

2. Try the following:

a. Click Start -> Control Panel

b. Open "Administrative Tools"

c. Open "Local Security Settings / Policy"

d. Click "Software Restriction Policies"

If no software restrictions are defined, right click the
Software Restriction Policies node and select New Software Restriction Policy:

1. Double click "Enforcement"

2. Select "All users except local administrators"

e. Click OK

f. Reboot the machine 

g. Try and run the installation again. 

h. If the error reappears, close the install shield,

i. To rule out a permissions issue with User Access Control, please right-click on the installer for AutoPIPE (i.e. ap09050105en.exe), and select "Run as Administrator" from the contextual menu.

Enter credentials if prompted. the installer should now start installing the application.

j. If the Error reappears, possible that your IT department has installation restrictions in place that are not visible to you. Windows Installer has been configured to refuse our installer for some reason. Please contact your IT department for further assistance.
