    Problem:

What is the difference between the support and the restraint output reports? There seems to be some overlap.

    Solution:

Fro many years, AutoPIPE has had a Support and Restraint output report - yes there is some overlap

    Support Report

Creates a sub-report section which lists support forces and displacements (local or global) for each active piping load. Anchor node points are not included in this report

    Notes:

    1. Rotation supports results are reported in this section, however, the Force column has a double meaning. For rotation supports only, the Force column means Moments with the units mentioned at the top of the report (ex. 75961 Ft-lb, not 75961 lbf)).

    Restraint Report:

Creates a sub-report section which lists forces and moments at restrained points (ex. anchors and supports) for each active piping load.

    Notes:

    1. Results are always reported in the Global axis system

    2. Moments are only reported for Anchors and Rotation type supports. All other support types will have moments = 0.00 because, anchors and rotation type supports are physically connected to the pipe to resist rotation type movement. For other supports, like a guide, the pipe is free to move / rotate freely but will be restrained when it comes into contact with the defined baring direction of a defined support.
