    05. Support results on a vertical support in an AutoPIPE model does not change, regardless of "Weight of Contents" settings. Appears Weight of Contents is not considered in my model, how to verify?

    Problem:

I have a model where the support values do not change regardless if the weight of contents is checked on or off. How can that be? Seems as if weight of contents is not considered in my analysis, how to check and prove that Weight of pipe contents is being considered in my model?

    Solution:

Confirm the following settings in your model:

    1. Pipe properties:

The Specific gravity of contents should be greater than 0.00, as shown below:

    2. Contents are checked ON:

Load> Static Analysis set> select an analysis set and press the Modify button to open the respective Static analysis load case dialog as shown below. Confirm the Contents check box is checked ON.

    3. "Fluid Density Factor "is greater than 0.00

Load> Static Analysis set> confirm the value in the Fluid Density Factor column is greater than 0.00 for the respective analysis set. A blank or 0.00 value would effectively multiple the weight of contents by 0, effectively the same as empty pipe.
