Problem:

The following warning appeared when performing a model consistency check:

W2143-45:A Yield(Sy) value of less than or equal to 1.00000 psi is detected on some points.

How to resolve and avoid it?

Solution:

There are 2 scenarios that would cause this warning to appear:

Scenario #1:

Somewhere in the model is a Sy value <= 1.00 psi. The easiest way to locate this node point(s), open  the Input Grids and select the Pressure/Temp/Pipe Id tab, scroll over to the column for Sy, and double click the column heading to place the column in ascending order, double click the column header again to place the column in descending order. Once in order look for all node points that have a Sy <= 1.00 psi and make the necessary changes.

This same technique can be performed on the Pipe properties tab for the cold Sy value(s).

Scenario #2:

In addition, there is a known issue (defect 746198) where the Consistency check is asking for an Syt value greater than 1, but users cannot enter an Syt value in the 1980 edition of ND, so it will always be zero. The Syt field is available starting in 1986+1988 addenda / 1989 edition. ASME ND 1980 does not consider the 1.5Syt limit for equation 9 allowable, so this warning could be ignored.

Appears that this issue was fixed in AutoPIPE 11.03.00.08 and higher.
