How to run a simple batch process to open a file (ex. *.NTL), save as an DAT, and close the program?
Note: before running a batch command, the output reports need to be set up correctly as required in each model, 1. confirm that "Limit reports to highlighted points" is checked off) and 2. other check boxes are enabled in the top portion of the dialog. and 3. the correct sub-reports have been moved over to the right column.
AutoPIPE has the ability to perform analyses, and produce reports for a previously defined system database (*.DAT) without user interaction. This gives the designer the opportunity to concentrate on modeling system databases during office hours, and then to run the desired analyses and create the result reports for each system overnight. Please refer to “Automated System Processing” in AutoPIPE program online help for the list and details of all batch options available.
AutoPIPE Batch Generator is a utility provided free of cost with the program to help creating and executing batch jobs. User can select the directories or specific files to setup the batch job. All the available batch switches are also available to select from. AutoPIPE Batch Generator application is located in the same windows menu group as AutoPIPE, Bentley Engineering. Suggest to open the application, click help, and read the available documentation to understand all of the power available to running batch analysis and reports.
See following procedure below:
1. Open MS Dos Command line window.
2. Change the director to the folder that contains your files to be processed (ex. C:\New Folder)
3. Review AutoPIPE help for proper syntax and switches (ex. /p).
4. Note name of file(s) to be batch processed (ex. Mike.NTL)
5. Enter the proper syntax and switch
> autopipe {filename.ntl} /p
Question: What will happen, will this work or not? if not , why?
Answer: No, it did not work because the path to autopipe.exe is not known. If the current folder does not contain the autopipe.exe file then the command line must be updated with the full file path to the program file's location.
Example: "C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\AutoPIPE CONNECT\autopipe.exe"
6. Update the syntax with the full path name to AutoPIPE.exe, (example below)
Question: Now what will happen, will this work or not? if not , why?
Answer:: Yes, of course it will work. The syntax is correct, the command line switch correct, and there are no AutoPIPE features requiring user input .
